Poem for Koun Taizan Maezumi Roshi by Tenshin Fletcher Roshi

Koun Taizan

20 years since your passing

Mindlessly your teaching unfolds.

Is it yours or the Ancient Buddhas?

No need for possession or place,

Yet when you find this place, practice occurs.

Thank you for your bone-grinding effort

And care, surpassing conventional compassion.

30 years of teaching, a flash of lightning,

Yet your brilliant aspect never ceases to shine.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank You!

Please accept a few words:

Ancestors and successors alike

Are illumined by the hazy moon.

Though generations come and go,

None fail to feel his presence.

Thank you very, very much both, Maezumi Roshi and Tenshin Roshi, for all the teachings and wonderful moments together.
